UAE roofs are crowded with AC condensers, duct supports, pipes, cable trays and water tanks. Every penetration is a potential leak for sheet systems. A liquid polyurethane membrane flows around and over these details and cures into one continuous skin. Its elasticity accommodates the large daily temperature swings on exposed roofs.
What is a liquid PU waterproofing membrane?
A liquid PU (polyurethane) membrane is a cold-applied liquid that cures by reacting with moisture or a second component to form a seamless, elastic, fully bonded waterproof layer. Applied by roller, brush or spray in coats to a specified thickness, it is typically finished with a UV-stable aliphatic top coat for exposed roofs.
Base coats are often aromatic polyurethanes, which are tough and elastic but yellow and chalk in sunlight. An aliphatic top coat is UV-stable and protects them. Good systems offer high elongation, often several hundred percent, so the membrane can move with the structure without cracking. Traffic-grade top coats with anti-slip aggregate are used on balconies and walkways.
When do you need liquid pu membrane?

Our step-by-step liquid pu membrane process
Survey and adhesion test
We inspect the roof, check moisture, identify existing layers and carry out adhesion tests to decide whether to overlay or strip.
Surface preparation
Loose material, failed coatings and contamination are removed. Cracks are opened and filled, and the surface is cleaned and dried.
Priming
The correct primer for the substrate is applied (concrete, screed, metal or existing membrane) to ensure bond and seal porosity.
Detail reinforcement
Cracks, joints, upstands, drains and penetrations are reinforced with polyester fabric embedded in PU, the key to a leak-free roof.
Base coats
The PU membrane is applied in one or more coats at a controlled rate per m² to reach the specified dry thickness, with upstands to the required height.
Thickness verification
Wet-film checks during application and coverage records confirm the membrane thickness across the area.
UV top coat
An aliphatic top coat, in white, grey or a reflective colour, is applied on exposed areas. Anti-slip grades are used where there's foot traffic.
Flood test and handover
Once cured, drains are plugged and the roof is flood-tested, typically for 24–48 hours, before handover with care guidance.
