Sectional GRP tanks are the standard for water storage in UAE buildings because panels can be carried up stairs and lifts and assembled where a one-piece tank could never go. The trade-off is hundreds of bolted, sealed joints. Every one must be right.
What is a GRP panel (sectional) water tank?
A GRP panel tank is a water storage tank assembled on site from moulded glass-reinforced plastic panels, typically 1 m × 1 m, bolted together through flanges with sealant in every joint. It is restrained by internal stays or external bracing, sits on a level base frame, and includes fittings such as inlet, outlet, overflow, drain, vent and manhole.
Tank sizes are built from panel modules, so capacity can be matched to demand and divided into compartments with a partition wall. One compartment can then be cleaned while the other stays in service. Insulated panels with a foam core help limit water temperature rise in UAE summers and reduce algae risk in rooftop tanks.

Design and layout
We confirm capacity, dimensions, panel type (insulated or not), compartments, fittings, access and the structural support with your consultant or supplier.
Base preparation
Concrete plinths or a hot-dip galvanised steel base frame are installed and levelled to the manufacturer's tolerance. An uneven base is the top cause of later leaks.
Panel delivery and inspection
Panels, sealant, bolts and stays are checked against the packing list and inspected for damage before assembly.
Base panel assembly
Base panels are placed and bolted with continuous sealant in every flange, checked for level and square before walls go up.
Walls, stays and partitions
Wall panels are erected course by course. Internal stays (stainless steel or GRP) or external bracing and any partition wall are fitted as the structure rises.
Roof, access and fittings
Roof panels, manhole, vents, ladders and nozzles for inlet, outlet, overflow and drain are installed with correct seals.
Torque check
All bolts are checked to the specified torque, as sealant relaxes during assembly.
Fill test and handover
The tank is filled and monitored, typically for 24–48 hours. Any weep is corrected, then cleaning and disinfection are coordinated before commissioning.
