What is a GRP partition wall?
A GRP partition wall is a wall built from glass-reinforced plastic panels. In a water tank, it divides the tank into two or more compartments with separate inlets, outlets and drains, so one side can be cleaned while the other supplies water. In buildings, GRP partitions create hygienic, waterproof, corrosion-proof dividers.
A tank partition wall carries water pressure from either side when one compartment is empty. It must be designed and braced for that load and sealed to the base, walls and roof so compartments stay isolated. Retrofitting a partition into an existing tank is possible when the tank structure and access allow it.

Survey and design

Preparation
For retrofits, the tank is drained and cleaned, and confined-space controls are applied. Bonding areas are prepared by grinding.
Panel installation
Partition panels are installed and bolted with sealant, or laminated into position, following the tank manufacturer's details.
Bracing
Stays or bracing are installed so the partition can resist full water pressure from either side.
Sealing and lamination
Junctions with base, walls and roof are sealed and laminated so compartments are fully isolated.
Pipework modifications
Separate inlet, outlet, overflow and drain connections are arranged for each compartment, where included in the scope.
Compartment testing
Each compartment is filled with the other empty to prove isolation and structural performance.
